Hello Kalamalka family and welcome to our blogspot. This is a place that you will be able to find a calendar with cabin use, photos, info from meetings, upcoming activities and projects that the family has decided to take on. I am learning as I go, so bear with me. It is easy for you to make comments and share information. If you have photos to share, email them to me and I will put them in.

It was lovely to see so many of us over this past few days. The Bruce Johnson family are at the lake now and so won't see this for a few weeks. Lynne, Bruce, Ian and Faye went to Greymonk for dinner on Saturday night and spent a very pleasant few hours talking about the cottages.

I will print and mail around the "minutes" of that meeting, but here are the highlights.

  1. The decision has been made to list the ski cabin as soon as best suits the market. Faye will be contacting an agent and confirming the time and price.
  2. We have decided to carry on with the summer cottage, but with a more concerted effort at renting the cabanas. The main cabin will be kept for the siblings and their family/guest use and the cabanas will be rented as fully as possible.
  3. The deck at the main cabin has reached a critical stage in it's demise and must be replaced. We would like to plan a demolition weekend for Thanksgiving of this year. That plan MUST be preceeded by the research and booking of the building of a new deck. Tyson is taking some measurements and we are asking Melissa and Jeremy to get a quote from the contactor currently doing the deck at their home. If Tyson will either post or send me the measurements then anyone can take them to a contractor for a quote. If you have a thought on this and are getting a quote please include a detailed description of the materials to be used, including the railing. We would also like a cv on the contractor. Casual discussions have indicated a desire to keep the gated, closed ends in the design of the new deck. The possibility of extending the deck by four or five feet at the south end have also been raised.
This was not discussed to conclusion, but we do need to repair the stairs from the main cabin to the beach. If you have a contractor in mind, please either get them out for a quote or contact me with their information.

Keep checking here for more information! I will post photos (send good interior shots if you have them) so if someone wants to rent they can look here for an idea of what it is like.

Talk to you all soon.
Play safe,
Faye

Hi Auntie Faye. This is such a great idea, and a fantastic way to keep the family all up to date with everything~! Was great to see you in the summer and hope to do that more often. We will probably be at mom and dad's for thanksgiving, so would love to help out with whatever needs to be done!
